He is the man behind King's short story Le Croque Mitaine (The Boogeyman)
SKSM: Could you start with telling me a bit about yourself? Who are you and what do you do?
Giuliano Dinocca: Hello. My name is Giuliano Dinocca, and i'm 14 years old. I'm currently in the secondary school. I was born in Bobigny, and I'm still living here. I'm passionnated by the cinema theaters, and aeronautic. I also made movies since 4 years. SKSM: When did you make Le Croque Mitaine? Can you tell me a little about the production? How much did it cost? How long did it take to film it? Giuliano Dinocca: I founded the "DINOCCA PRODUCTIONS" in 2002. I had this idea after the fact that I realised few short movies. Then, some friends, and family, wanted to contriibuate to this, so I wanted to create the "STAR ALLIANCE", but this name was already used by some aerial companies, so I kept the name of "Dinocca Productions." The movie almost cost nothing. When i gathered enough elements, (script, casting, shotplace...) I started. But at the end of the sot, other people wanted to be into the movie. But... that was too late... I told them that i do again "he boogeyman", but with them... that's one of my next projects!!! In one day, the shoot was over. The editing was most complex, because we didnot shot in one shot... we started by the scenes of Dr Harper, then the flashbacks, and the final scene. 2 days and the movie was done. SKSM: How come you picked Le Croque Mitaine to develop into a animation movie? What is it in the story that you like so much? Giuliano Dinocca: The first time i read the storie, (near 1 year ago), I didn't immediately want to make the movie. The idea came later.... The most thing that I enjoyed in the storie, was the end... because this is a cliffangher effect. SKSM: What do you think of Jeffrey C. Schiro's 1982 version of the Boogeyman? Giuliano Dinocca: When i discovered the teaser of the movie on the website Creepshows, I was only at the 1st step of the movie. And, I saw the whole movie throught SKSM. I immediately enjoyed the production. So, I decided to make a mix between the movie and the short storie. I also though that it will me essential to include the score of the movie. SKSM: Was there any funny or special moment when you made the movie that you would like to tell me about? Giuliano Dinocca: HAHHA!! There is a scene where Mr Billings is in his corridor, and we can hear the boogeyman which is comin'. When we were assuring the coherence of the score and the Billings's moves, we broadcasted it on the dictaphone while we were watching the shot scenes. We were afraid!!! Sylvain (Dr Harper) told me "please, stop this music!!! SKSM: How does it feel that all the King fans out there can't see your movie? Do you think that will change in the future? Maybe a video/dvd release would be possible? Giuliano Dinocca: I'm really excited to the idea that people can see this movie. But you know, I'm only 14 years old, and there is another boy into this movie. The fact is that I do not have the autorization from his parents to broadcast the movie. But... this is only a question of time!!! SKSM: Did you have any personal contact with King during the making of the movie? Has he seen it (and if so, what did he think about it)? Giuliano Dinocca: ...No... But, if i could have some, it would be great! SKSM: Do you have any plans for making more movies based on Stephen King's stories? If you could pick - at least - one story to shoot, which one would it be and why? Giuliano Dinocca: I'm currently studying. I'm only 14 years old, but I plan to adap the short story "I am the doorway" (into "Nightshift Collection")... (note from the translator : the french title of the story is "Je suis une passerelle", into the novel "Nightshift Collection" . be careful because the title danse macabre is another novel from king... an essay on horror...) SKSM: Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there anything else you want to say to the fans that read this interview? Giuliano Dinocca: I'd like to thanks the people which are watching my productions. And, if they have any questions, they only have to ask it into the "comments" section of the movie on the SKSM website... Thanks again, and see ya. Best, Giuliano Dinocca |
